Aegon helps India's poorest with free education with donation via ITdonations
Aegon- Bedrijf plus HCL foundation - Goede doel

Aegon, through the ITdonations Foundation, is donating the residual value of its old ICT equipment to the Guindy School in Chennai, India.

On 22 May, Aegon's Koos van der Veen (IT Director) and Kees Jan Stam (Vendor Manager) handed over a cheque worth €89,413.25 to Sudip Lahiri, EVP & Head - Europe, Financial Services and Naresh Narang, Global Client Partner from HCLTech, in aid of this school. Mr Gince K. Mattam, Deputy Head of the Indian Embassy in the Netherlands was also present. The Guindy School provides free education to the poorest groups in the region. They teach children up to 17 years old to prepare them for higher education.

Kees Jan Stam: "Aegon is proud to contribute to the success of the Guindy School. Since 2014, when HCL introduced the school to us, the school, its students and staff have been close to our hearts. We see motivated teachers and students, resulting in high pass rates. Without higher education, there is no chance of a social career in India, so a good start in a child's school life there is indispensable. We hope this amount will enable the school to do even more great things for the school youth.

Previous donations from Aegon to the Guindy School (full name: Lions Club of Guindy Labour Colony High School) have provided a water treatment plant and a science classroom. Aegon employees have also helped paint the school buildings.
