ANWB donates residual value of old IT equipment to Congo Foundation

ANWB, through the ITdonations Foundation, has donated the residual value of its old laptops and PCs to the Congo Foundation. The amount of €10,243 will go to the foundation, which supports the African country by helping set up small-scale projects on the ground in the fields of education, health and agriculture.

Regularly, ANWB donates the residual value of its old computer equipment to charity. This is where the ITdonations Foundation helps.

Through an internal poll, IT employee Glodi Mbwete's proposal received the most votes. He suggested donating the residual value to the Congo Foundation this time.

Helping children and young people

"I had the idea of doing something for Congo for a long time because a large part of my family lives there. I support the Congo Foundation's activities to help children and young people less fortunate than us. In return for rewarding my idea, I ran 24.3 kilometres. Why that distance? 243 is the country code to call Congo."

Taking control of its own future

Pascal Verstappen, Manager IT Operations at ANWB is very happy with Glodi's initiative and personal commitment. "Stichting Congo is a great initiative that helps Congo develop itself so that the Congolese can take control of their own future. Just like we can in the Netherlands and the colleagues within ANWB do."

About ITdonations Foundation

Stichting ITdonations was founded in 2007 by Gerard Aldus, managing director of NEG-Group. He sees that many organisations have problems with the safe and responsible disposal of discarded IT equipment. At the same time, he has a desire to do business in a way that is also valuable to society.
