Aegon aids the poorest in India with free education through donations
Aegon- Bedrijf Oude telefoons Wegenwacht leveren Stichting ALS € 5.000 op HCL Foundation - Goede doel

Aegon donates the residual value of its old ICT equipment to the Guindy School in Chennai, India, through the ITdonations Foundation.

On May 22, Aegon's Koos van der Veen (IT Director) and Kees Jan Stam (Vendor Manager) presented a check worth € 89,413.25 to Sudip Lahiri, EVP & Head – Europe, Financial Services and Naresh Narang, Global Client Partner from HCLTech, Aegon's IT partner for the benefit of this school. The presentation of the check was conducted in the presence of Mr. Gince K. Mattam, the Deputy Chief of the Indian Embassy in the Netherlands. The Guindy School provides free education to the poorest groups in the region. They teach children up to 17 years old to prepare them for higher education.

Kees Jan Stam: 'Aegon is proud to be able to contribute to the success of the Guindy School. Since 2014, when HCL introduced the school to us, the school, its students, and staff have been close to our hearts. We see motivated teachers and students, resulting in high graduation rates. Without higher education, the chance of a social career in India is nil, so a good start in a child's school life there is indispensable. We hope that the school can do even more great things for the school youth with this amount.'

With previous donations from Aegon to the Guindy School (full name: Lions Club of Guindy Labour Colony High School), a water purification installation and a science classroom have been realized. Aegon employees also helped with painting the school buildings.
